Austin & The Syd Experience

Syd always knew that she wanted to be an entertainer. At a very early age, she realized that she a natural born gift for singing. Over the years, her voice has gone threw quite a "metamorphosis". Singing in church definitely laid the foundation for the range she has now. Low, controlled bass notes to mind blowing whistle tones, her vocal versatility leaves audiences in awe! 

Whether she's singing soul, psychedelic, blues or funk, there's no shortage of rock n roll energy in her performances. Listening to Syd's singing has been described as a "spiritual awakening" and as "warm & nostalgic". She enjoys taking the audience on a psychedelic journey with lyricism, visuals and vocals to hit you right in the soul.

Austin Johnson Columbus, Ohio native started playing guitar at the age of 11 but his musical influence started at a very young age from his musical family. He grew up listening to his family play acoustic guitar around campire's and by the age of 11 he wanted to join in the musical fun. By the age of 13 he got his first electric guitar and started taking private lessons from blues guitar star "Sean Carney". This started him into the world of blues and rock.

He started performing by the age of 14 and has been honing his skills since. He joined a band named "Harper and Midwest kind" that took him all over the U.S playing some of the most historic venues traveling along the "Blues circuit". He has played major festivals such as "Milwaukee Summerfest" opening for "Shaggy" and playing with big names such as grammy winner "Paul Nelson". These year's of touring gave him the experience needed to form his own band.

Now at the age of 26 he has formed a band called "Austin & The Syd Experience". His soulful but powerful approach to the guitar adds the melody and grit to the band that makes 1/4 of the bands sound. His guitar playing takes you on a spiritual journey through raw emotion and passion. 

Brandon is a Columbus, Ohio based drummer, that has been laying down the groove for several bands from a  very young age.  Starting with his Church Praise team at 7, he went on to forming a young blues band with  2 friends at age 11, which took him into the world of Blues.

     Over the years, Brandon honed his skills through countless hours of practice and dedication. His rhythmic prowess caught the attention of fellow musicians, leading him to join various bands and collaborate on numerous projects.

     As the drummer for Austin and the Syd Experience, he is thrilled to be a part of their musical journey, bringing his smile and energy to every performance. Through the power of his drumming, Brandon adds a heartbeat to the band's sound, creating an unforgettable experience for both himself and the audience.

John Zuck spent his highschool years playing drums with his besties in a punk band and learned a little guitar. He came to Columbus for art school in 1986 and during his junior year at age of 21, picked up the bass and decided to put all his eggs in one basket and quickly formed his indie band 'Ishkabibble.' spent 10 years touring and releasing 2 full length CDs and a record. 

Afterwards started his own post punk 'Zucks Turkey Farm 'and became a freelance bass player, known for his slap technique and driving rhythm.He worked with many bands over next 20 years such as, Mike Perkins, Ekoostik Hookah, Pat Buzzard and O.A.R, just to name a few bands he's played bass for. He's excited to create new grooves and sonic adventures with Austin and Syd Experience.
